Thank you for a great Summer Academy!
We had great days, filled with lectures, demonstrations and workshops with the topic ‘secondary aids’. A shoutout to the Steinbrecht Bookclub, who made history come alive in the most fantastic way!
Decisions round table 2025
New date 2026
Summer Academy has always started the first Wednesday of August. The round table decided to take it one week earlier in 2026. The new dates: 29th of July-1st of August 2026.
Age limit
In 2017 the Round Table decided that horses who participate in a groundworklongetest must have a minimum age of 5 years old. For the squiretest the horse must be at least 7 years old.
This year the Round Table added that for every test after the two basic test the horse must be at least 10 years old.
Levade test
The levade test was expanded. Before the applicant showed the statical levade (left/right/unbent). Now the applicant is required to show both the statical levade and the dynamical levade (left/right) with a transition into terre à terre. The full text about the test can be read here.
Membership & tests minor changes
- The rules stated earlier:
“The applicant must have trained and taught the horse the movements on his/her own, or with the help of his/her teacher, after the principles of the Academic Art of Riding.”
It is now specified:
“The horse with which a test is taken must be trained according to academic ethics and principles and with the use of academic tools.” - The rules regarding online tests were added.
- It was decided that when a member is convicted of a serious crime, he/she loses the right to defend him/herself at the round table when the member is excluded.
Topic 2026
The Round Table decided to continue the topic ‘secondary aids’ another year, with a special attention to didactics. The organizing team next year will consist of Franziska Schwarze, Hannah Kampe, Tanja Friedburg, Nina Airaksinen and Michelle Wolf.
